NOGA EREZ

Posted on October 13, 2022October 13, 2022 by DOLLHOUSE

psst.

Can I Put You On Something?

This is going to be a series where I just research and go on rants about some of my fave artists that are a little less known. A lot of fun for me and maybe making them a new fan in you.

First up, an artist I am SO PASSIONATE about:

Noga Erez

An Israeli singer, songwriter, and producer.

Her writings cover both social and political issues going on at home and around the world but she won’t box herself up as such – she says that her music is her way of processing everything that bothers her about the world.

I would describe her sound as aggressive, threatening, but also playful. Some of the influences she’s mentioned include The Gorillaz, Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus, Bjork, and Frank Ocean.

I was introduced to Noga Erez in May of 2020 by Billie Eilish and her dad, Patrick O’Connell, when they hosted an Apple podcast series called “me & dad radio.” In the very first episode, they played Chin Chin and I was immediately hooked. It’s a track by Noga Erez featuring fellow Israeli artist ECHO and Noga’s co-producer and partner, Ori Rousso. It’s got heavy bass, a funky beat, and vocals that make you feel all-powerful.

Since then, she’s released her sophomore album KIDS on March 26, 2021 as well as a stripped down version of that album, KIDS (against the machine) on November 5, 2021.

I recommend you listen to the entirety of this very confrontational album. I love their use of brass instruments in nearly every track, I love how it makes you want to groove 5while also stripping you of all hope for humanity, and I LOVE how every now and then, everything falls away to make room for a rap verse you didn’t know you needed.

This album is by far my favourite pop – and maybe even my favourite rap – album of 2021.

i went to summerfest last night in wisconsin even though it was mostly indie crap but there was this one chick called noga erez that nearly lifted me off my feet. she's on spotify and i highly suggest you check her out if you're into electro-pop and varieties like that

Following Erez’s career has been very fulfilling; stunning visuals, dance numbers that go HARD, music videos that feel timeless, AND she’s funny. I think she’s the coolest and one of the most unique artists out there right now. The kind you hear, and are immediately taken aback by. You’re curious and want to hear more. Who the fuck is this woman!?!?!

And in the words of a random Youtube user named Moo: How many dope tracks does this chick need to drop before the world catches on?

Song Recommendations:

Of course, I’m going to start you off where I started: listen to Chin Chin

Listen to End Of The Road

https://youtu.be/enk4vUjbjikThat build at the beginning…

And listen to her latest single, NAILS

Did I manage to put you on her?? Would love to hear your thoughts if you gave her a listen!
